Frequently Asked Questions
If you have any enquiries about the Church of the Holy Ghost, the Chaplain is always available for help, advise or Spiritual Counsel. Some frequently asked questions are listed here, but if your question is not, the Chaplain is always willing to advise.
Q: Is this Church Christian?
A: Yes. We believe and teach the historic Creeds of
the Church, that God is three persons in one: revealing himself as
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. That he entered his human creation in a
particular way at a particular time. And that person was Jesus
Christ, born of the Virgin Mary; he is both God and Man. That he
died on a Cross and by the power of his love and his sinlessness was
raised from the dead. And that his rising is for all humanity, who
can rise with him from death and live in glory for ever.
Q: What is an Anglican Church?
A: The Anglican Communion is made up of many
different Churches throughout the world. Holy Ghost Church is part of
the Church of England, in the Diocese in Europe. The Anglican
Communion includes, for example, The Episcopal Church in the
United States (TEC); the Church in Nigeria; and the Nippon Sei Ko Kai (the
Church in Japan).
Q: I am not Anglican, can I still come?
A: Yes. This Church welcome everyone whatever their
race, age, tradition, belief, marital status etc etc.
Q: May I receive Holy Communion?
A: It depends. Christians believe that at the Last
Supper, Jesus gave himself in Holy Communion in a particular way:
the Bread and Wine of the Eucharist. We trust Jesus' words
that the Bread and Wine become his Body and Blood, so we believe
that Jesus is
really present. If you share this belief; if you have been prepared
(either by the Sacrament of Confirmation or by being Admitted to
Holy Communion); and you are not in any grave sin, then, yes you may
receive Holy Communion.
If you are not a member of an Anglican Church, Baptised persons who
are communicant members of other Churches which subscribe to the
Doctrine of the Holy Trinity (believes that God is Father, Son and
Holy Spirit) ; and that you would normally
receive Holy Communion in your Church, then yes, you may receive
Holy Communion here.
If you are Roman Catholic, on our part, you may receive Holy
Communion, but the Holy Father requests that you should only
receive Holy Communion at a Catholic Mass, because we are in
different Eucharistic Communities.
Q: How do I become a Christian?
A: By Baptism (sometimes called Christening). It's
not what we do for God which makes us Christians, but what God does
for us. You can only be Baptised once. So if you are Baptised, you
are a Christian; if you are not baptised, talk to the Chaplain after
the Sunday Service or make an appointment to see him. He will be
very pleased to help and guide, instruct and baptise anyone of any age at
any time!
Q:I live a long way from the Church, can
I still be involved?
A: Yes, of course. If you live or work in the
Liguria region but cannot - for whatever reason - come on a Sunday, the
Chaplain is happy to arrange a visit.
Q:Can I ask another question?
A: Yes, email it here
